2.         Munich –  Congratulations!

Without any doubt he is Germany's all-time most renowned studio
musician. He has played on records by John Lennon, George Harrison
and Ringo Starr. He has been the bass player on recordings by
B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carly Simon, Randy Newman, Lou Reed
and many others. He has produced the records by Trio which have been
immensely successful all over the world. He is the proud owner of
two Grammies. He has contributed the trend-setting cover to
the Beatles' "Revolver" album, and on 29 April he has turned seventy:
KLAUS VOORMANN.
A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Klaus, and all the very best!

3.         Hamburg - Classic

Like Klaus she is part of the Beatles' inner circle of friends.
Her photos of John, Paul, George, Stuart, Pete and Ringo have
become classics of rock and pop photography. We are proud to
have been allowed to represent her for many years.
On 20 May 2008, ASTRID KIRCHHERR will also celebrate her
seventieth birthday.

4.         Munich – All You Need Is Music

From early May until the end of July 2008, the Munich "Eissportzentrum"
at the Olympiapark München will become the center of Beat, rock
and pop music. On display will be hundreds of items, such as Mick
Jagger's 1964 convertible, Elton John's mirror piano, as well as the
following genre highlights:

- Star-Club, the cradle of Beat music
- Elvis in Munich
- the most impressive posters of rock history
- unique guitar symbols of rock
- pop goddesses and superstars - from Madonna to Robbie Williams

and, as an absolute highlight: Summer of Love and Tragedy, the
Flower Power Era in contrast to Vietnam and the Prague Spring.

There will also be personal guided tours by museum director and
book author Herbert Hauke. From 09 May until 26 July 2008.
Open daily from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Admission is 9 Euro.

5.         Cuxhaven – Kicks in Cux

At the second Hamburg Sound Festival Ralf Fröhlich has
presented to special guest Spencer Davis (photo) as well as
to us his book of "We got our kicks in CUX '66".

Ralf Fröhlich, Christian Mangels and numerous witnesses of the era
reminisce and recall the old times when the Elbe river estuary
area became part of the thriving scene. At the legendary "Club 99",
at the "Sonne" or on the "Stadt Hamburg" club stage, Tony Sheridan,
the Lords, Lee Curtis and the Allstars, the Rattles and the
Hep Stars would feed their fans'  frenzy.
But also upcoming local bands stood their ground.
The Rhythm Brothers (they also played at the Star-Club),
The Spacemen, The Vampyrs, The Cracks, The Outcast
and The Crusaders were among the better known local heroes.
This is a lovingly preserved piece of history.

ISBN: 978-3-920709-50-5. Preis: 15,80 Euro.
Orders from mailto:Buchbestellung@cuxhaven-beat.de

6.         Bremen – Rock History and Stories

On 10 May 2008 from 7 p.m. Dirk Böhling and Jörg Sonntag
will once again present their successful live event of
"Beat Club & Friends". The Beat Club in-house band featuring
star guest Tony Sheridan will be part of it as well as
Hot Love with Dave Ashby and a band named Civil Live.
All this is going to take place at the Event-Studio of Radio
Bremen at the Weserhaus, Hinter der Mauer 7 in Bremen.

On 21 May there will be another instalment of "Vinyl" at
EinsFestival (TV). This will be aired at 4 p.m. and 0.30 a.m. resp.,
again featuring Jörg and Dirk.
Guest: Uschi Nerke. She remembers when she was discovered
by Rudi Carrell, and the days when TV hosts still felt the need
to apologize for presenting a Beat show.
She also remembers her first great love, Hollies singer Graham
Nash, who was later to become a member of Crosby, Stills and Nash
in the USA. Music by: The Hollies, Remo Four, The Yankees,
John O´Hara & His Playboys and Gerry & The Pacemakers.

7.         Marl - Feedback

On 4 April, Dietmar Post and Lucia Palacios have been awarded the
"Adolf Grimme Preis" in the category of "Information and Culture" for
their film of "MONK – THE TRANSATLANTIC FEEDBACK".
This documentary is about an extraordinary band, THE MONKS,
consisting of former GI's, which was to develop novel images
and music in sharp contrast to the prevailing beat norm of the sixties
with the help of two young German intellectuals. At the time, their premonition
of Industrial Music, Krautrock and Punk scared both audiences and
colleagues, today the Monks are legend.
